Strategy Implementation & Business Plan Execution

Senior Leadership Development, Operational Management

Effective Time Allocation and Personal Organisation

A perceived lack of time is one of the most common causes of stress in the workplace, regardless of seniority or industry.  “No time..” is one of the most common reasons given for failure to deliver agreed outcomes at work.  Time is a non-renewable resource.  It cannot be managed, only allocated.  Once an hour is used, it cannot be recycled.

With this in mind, this Programme enables Participants to

  • Prioritise tasks in order to distinguish what is important from what is merely urgent
  • Allocate time during the working day to complete all the important tasks effectively
  • Determine what can be delegated, deferred or dropped
  • Give themselves permission to delegate or drop tasks and so not waste effort
  • Keep on top of ongoing tasks so that they maintain momentum
  • Give themselves space to think so that they can take a more strategic approach

The Benefits of this approach include:

  • Get more of your important tasks completed in a timely manner at home and at work
  • Feel good about doing less but achieving more at work and at home
  • Build a reputation for delivery
  • Develop your staff by delegating or outsourcing effectively
  • Reduce “worrying” because you know that you are in control at all times
  • Respond successfully to changing conditions and demands without stress
  • Stop taking work home (unless you choose to do so)

Topics covered include:

  • Task- and delivery-orientation (so you see both wood and trees)
  • Task prioritisation and the “IWIDoN” approach to actions that minimises distractions
  • Day to day diary management and planning to allocate time effectively
  • The 4D decision matrix to avoid handling tasks more than once
  • Paper versus PC filing and calendar systems
  • Rolling reminder systems: “Do” as opposed to “To Do”
  • The “WINS” approach to breaking down large tasks into bite-sized pieces

Who should attend?

  • Executives at all levels, regardless of seniority
  • Newly appointed managers, team leaders and department heads
  • Independent business owners, consultants and coaches
  • Anybody who fears that “there are simply not enough hours in the day”
